OpenRG 802.1x Port-Based Access Control Authentication
IEEE 802.1x is a port-based authentication protocol to secure communications
over 802.11 Wireless LANs. As more residential and small office / home
office (SOHO) gateways offer wireless connectivity in the home or SOHO
environment, 802.1x provides a distributed mechanism for authentication and
access control, which allows wireless LAN users to protect their data and
computers from hacker attacks.
Jungo has developed an embedded 802.1x Port-Based Access Control
Authentication module to allow broadband customer premise equipment (CPE) manufacturers to integrate
standards-based and interoperable wireless LAN security features into their wireless access
points. The module is tightly integrated with OpenRG, Jungo's
leading residential and SOHO gateway software suite,
supports both Linux and VxWorks operating systems and has been tested with wireless chipsets from a wide
variety of vendors.
By choosing Jungo's 802.1x module integrated with OpenRG, CPE manufacturers
benefit from
OpenRG's additional security modules, RG-Firewall and RG-VPN.
