Overview
Jungo's USB Audio Class Driver provides a full and comprehensive solution for audio systems manufacturers
such as mobile phones, mobile phone sets and car kits, car infotainment systems,
set-top boxes, home entertainment systems, iPod accessories, digital speakers and others,
to support audio streaming over the Universal Serial Bus from respective devices such as mobile phones,
portable music players including the Apple iPod, digital microphones, digital speakers and others...
The USB Audio Class Driver is a part of the Jungo USBware
framework and is fully compliant with the USB-IF Audio Class Specification.
It enables an embedded system to recognize an audio device and
provide real time streaming audio. Using the Audio Class Driver, users can communicate with their USB audio
device, streaming audio to or from the USB device.
Background
The Universal Serial Bus (USB) provides an expandable,
hot-pluggable Plug and Play serial interface that ensures a
standard, low-cost connection for peripheral devices such as
storage devices, keyboards, joysticks, printers, scanners,
modems, and digital cameras.
A USB Class Driver is a Logical Device Driver (LDD), which controls
USB devices that provide common functionality and are implemented
in compliance with a specific device class.
A USB Function Driver is a driver implemented within a device in
order to handle the device-specific functionality of a standard
or custom USB device function. This driver provides the counterpart of the USB Class Driver.
Jungo's USB Audio Class Driver is part of the Jungo USBware
USB Host Stack,
which enables software and device manufacturers to incorporate standard USB connectivity into their embedded devices.
The USBware Audio Class Driver streams the
audio data through a dedicated isochronous pipe, thus utilizing the full
potential of the USB bandwidth while guaranteeing required throughput and minimizing
protocol overhead.
